Personalized coaching for artists at every stage — from first marks to a seasoned practice. With four years of dedicated coaching and a lifetime in art, I offer guidance that's honest, encouraging, and rooted in your own vision.
4 years coaching
Maybe you're craving a creative practice that feels alive and truly personal. Maybe you've been away from art for years and wonder if it's too late. Or maybe you're already deep in the work — but you want someone who really gets it, someone who can see your potential and help you stretch toward it.
I've spent years as a teacher, mentor, and working artist. Coaching is where those threads come together: your goals, your pace, your creative rhythm.
It's about building a practice that's yours — expressive, evolving, and rooted in who you are.
You want to draw and paint without the weight of academic pressure or judgment.
You're ready to rekindle your practice in a way that fits the life you have now.
Working on characters, narrative imagery, children's books, or visual series.
Designers, writers, therapists — exploring metaphor and visual perception through art.
Seeking thoughtful feedback and mentorship on a body of work or creative direction.
Grads and self-starters who want fresh eyes and input beyond traditional training.
Send me a message telling me a little about where you are and what you're hoping for. No pressure, no commitment. Just a conversation.
Each coaching engagement is tailored to you. We set a rhythm that fits your schedule and define the scope — whether you're working on a specific project or building a sustained practice.
Sessions may include custom prompts, technical demonstrations, recorded feedback, curated art history references, and access to a shared online folder for your work-in-progress.
Between sessions, you make the work. I'm available for questions and light feedback. The goal is to build momentum that carries beyond our time together.
Tim McCormack, I'm lucky to have as a friend — he's an amazing person and mentor. He made me feel like my voice and personal style was valid and worth developing.— Dylan Glynn, animator & director, Canadian Screen Award nominee
Drawing with Tim is a delicious experience that is too good to pass up. His enchanting style of teaching both deepens and broadens the focus as you draw — generous with attention, encouragement, and perfectly fitted into a busy schedule.— Leslie
He has extensive knowledge of artists, styles and materials — and through demos and stories, gets everyone excited. His ability to see beauty and creativity in every student's work spurs you on. A master teacher who is very generous with his time.— Anne
The first thing that comes to mind is how encouraging you are. As an absolute beginner, you always point out what is interesting or on the right track. Your encouragement helps me find the joy in drawing — and I want to keep going.— Student, online figure drawing course
I'm Tim McCormack — Toronto-based artist, illustrator, and art coach. My work spans painting, collage, and illustration, with a deep fascination for how images tell stories and how a visual language evolves over time.
I've spent many years teaching and mentoring in various capacities — workshops, school settings, and informal mentorship. Four years ago I began offering dedicated one-on-one coaching, and it's become one of the most rewarding parts of my practice.
My approach is rooted in art history, expressive drawing, and a genuine belief that everyone has a visual voice worth developing. I work with students online, across time zones, in sessions that are personal, unhurried, and full of possibility.
Ready to reconnect with your creativity? Send me a message and tell me a little about where you are. We'll take it from there.
